Camping Recipes: Snack Attack

The Walking Taco

Total Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Skill: Beginner

Once people said: Keep your friends close, and your snacks closer. Well, you should have listened to them because these walking tacos are just amazing! For those of you that don’t know, a walking taco is a taco in a bag. It is assembled in the bag and then eaten out of the bag with very little clean up! To make these walking tacos even easier, I had a store bought barbecue pork. Another great idea is to precook your meat before you go (homemade food is always the best). Heat your meat, open the bag of chips, crush them into smaller pieces, top the chips with any toppings as desired, and eat with a fork as you walk around. Simple as that!

Campfire Cone

Total Cooking Time: 7-10 Minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Skill: Beginner

Everyone loves marshmallows as a classic campfire treat. Try this fun twists on marshmallows! These campfire cones can be wrapped in aluminium foil and thrown in the coals of a fire. What you put inside? Well, you snack your way – totally up to you! We had an assortment of chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, some pretzel biscuits, and fresh berries. What we think would also be some good choices are chunks of banana, peanuts, M&Ms… Now here’s a little tip for you: Heavy duty foil is a good idea if you’re tossing it in some campfire coals.

Chili Cheese Fries

Total Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Skill: Beginner

Fries! How can you set fries aside when we’re talking about snacks here?! It’s easy. It’s tasty. It’s fries! Spray the inside of a large doubled-up sheet of foil with cooking spray. Place the frozen fries in the middle of the sheet; fold to enclose. After that, cook the fries over a campfire until they are cooked – around 15-20 minutes. Worth noting, the two big individual elements of this recipe—the chili and the cheese – are both incredible on their own. Spread them on your fries and cook until the chili is hot and the cheese has melted. Enjoy! We just ate it with fork right out of the package.
