Camping Recipes: Dinner Ready in 20 Minutes

French Bread Pizza

Total Cooking Time: 5-10 Minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Skill: Beginner

Well I know making pizza at a campsite sounds entirely impossible to many of you – you have to make dough and you need to have an oven. How about a French Bread Pizza, people? An open-faced French bread using tomato sauce, cheese, pepperoni, bacon, black olive, sausages… Uggh, just any manner of toppings. Short of French bread? Well, any small baguettes or crusty sandwich rolls will do. All you have to do is just build and build and build. Once all assembled, fold your pizzas with aluminium foil. Cook them over the fire for 5-10 minutes depending on how hot the fire is and you are good to go. Enjoy these, guys! Nothing simpler in the world and this recipe is especially good on those cooler camping trips. Don’t ask me why, it just does lol.

Campfire Chili Mac

Total Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Skill: Casual

Because it's not a true camping experience without some chili. Pour the whole box of pasta into a large skillet. Pour 3 cups of cold water into skillet, ensuring that the water covers the pasta. Cook on high, stirring occasionally, until almost all of the liquid has evaporated (around 10 minutes). Last, add chili and bring to a simmer. I prefer to top mine with corn chips and mild cheddar. But some folks like sour cream, avocado chunks, jalapenos, and some extra cilantro. Enjoy. It’s chili. It’s pasta. It’s delicious.

Beer Batter Fish Fillet

Total Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Skill: Casual

This recipe is a crowd pleaser every time I make it. Now, first step is to open the beer and take a sip. We need our fish fillets to be cleaned and dried. You can buy these fish fillets from a store, but hopefully you caught, skinned, cleaned, de-boned, and dried them yourself (because I can't do that). Nice job! Take another sip of beer! Anyway, take your fish fillets and dredge them in the flour. Take another sip. Then we want to mix the pancake mix and about ¾ cup of beer together. The rest of the beer is for you. Mix it with a fork until it is smooth and dip the fillets in the batter. Put these fish fillets into the oil and cook until the outside is golden, brown, and delicious. Only cook two at a time as overcrowding the pan when frying is a big No-No.
